Ben's Team

My friends Chris and Michele Hayes have a son named Peter -- I am his godfather.

Their other son was named Benjamin -- he was born 10 weeks premature, and died after only 16 months.

In Ben's memory, Chris, Michele and Peter (and their friends) have begun a project known as "Ben's Team" -- basically, they gather a group for the annual walk-a-thon in their town to raise money for the March Of Dimes.

But that's actually putting it too simply. In fact, it's much more than that...

The first time they did it, in 2003, they had 70 people -- SEVENTY -- marching in Ben's memory, all of them with sponsors to help raise money. I don't know how much money they raised that year (I think about four or five thousand dollars), but to give you an idea, there were only 25 other people on the march in TOTAL. Did you hear me? Ninety-five people on that march, and SEVENTY of them were marching as Ben's Team.

But that's nothing.

For the 2004 march -- and I hope you're sitting down -- for this march, there were a stunning 400 people marching as part of Ben's Team -- FOUR HUNDRED -- and they raised over $20,000!!!!

Chris has put together this small video about the 2004 events. It was his FIRST EVER attempt at video editing, and I'm really impressed.
